Dorothea Taylor Bogert is an accomplished leader whose career spans public service, business, education, and community engagement. Dorothea serves as a Real Estate Broker with her company, FL Realty, leveraging 27 years of experience and a proven record of success in negotiation, sales, real property, and rentals, supported by a strong foundation in business and community development.
Dorothea served as Mayor of the City of Auburndale from 2022 through 2025, following her service as Vice Mayor from 2020 to 2021 and as a City Commissioner from2018 through 2025. She considers it an honor to serve the citizens of her beautiful city and takes great pride in knowing that Auburndale’s vision will continue to create opportunities for growth while preserving its cherished small-town atmosphere.
Dorothea’s dedication to education is reflected in her academic achievements and teaching experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Florida and both a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Higher Education (Postsecondary Educational Leadership) from Florida State University, where she also served in key leadership and advisory roles. Early in her career, she was an adjunct professor at Polk Community College, teaching Ethics and fostering student growth through interactive and practical learning.
Her commitment to civic leadership extends beyond Auburndale through active involvement with the Florida League of Cities, the Florida League of Mayors, the Ridge League of Cities, Auburndale Chamber of Commerce, Auburndale Community & Redevelopment Agency, and numerous boards and advisory councils. She has also provided decades of leadership within Alpha Delta Pi, serving in multiple volunteer positions.
A lifelong advocate for education, economic empowerment, and community development, Dorothea continues to dedicate her time and expertise to advancing opportunities, strengthening communities, and mentoring the next generation of leaders.
